Inclusion in Storytime
I saw a need for children attending Story-time to see themselves in some of the characters we present. Along with a co-worker we began to create these felt children. It started off as something we wanted to have on hand at the branch. Currently we are getting requests from branches that present bilingual Storytime and would like to implement all different sorts of people in their Storytimes as well.
Look mom, I'm famous! Last year, Trekkell put on an art contest. I entered and though I was not selected as a winner, they used my painting to advertise the contest.
Here's a close up of felt characters created and inspired by the book Julian is a Mermaid.
Children truly inspire me to teach and create works of art that tell a story. Here's some examples of a book I'm working on. I began this project when I started working at the library. Letter recognition and beginning letter sounds combined with children creating there own narrative was the inspiration for this book.
